La Crosse Technology WS-8157U-IT-OAK Atomic Digital Wall Clock w/ Indoor Outdoor Temperature and Weather Forecast, Oak Finish

The La Crosse Technology WS-8157U-IT-OAK Atomic Digital Wall Clock is a medium size digital clock that displays radio controlled, accurate time and one of three forecast icons that provide an accurate prediction of likely weather conditions for the next 12 to 24 hours based on changes in barometric pressure.  Along with the forecast icon, a weather tendency arrow indicates the current barometric pressure trend (if changing).  Also on the display are the day of the week, the date, the indoor temperature, and the outdoor temperature.

The La Crosse Technology WS-8157-IT-OAK sets itself nightly (given adequate signal reception) according to the highly accurate time signal transmitted by WWVB.  This signal can typically be received within the continental US and parts of southern Canada (sometimes in Hawaii).  

Displayed information in the initial display mode (pictured) includes time (hour and minutes), month and date, weekday, indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, and forecast icon (with up or down weather tendency arrow if air pressure is changing). Three other display modes let you display clock seconds digitally in place of the weekday, the indoor temperature, or the outdoor temperature.  The outdoor temperature is transmitted to the clock by an included TX37U-IT wireless remote thermo sensor/transmitter.

The three weather forecast icons that can be displayed by the WS-8157-IT-OAK are:

• Sunny: Weather is expected to improve (not that it will be sunny).

• Sun with Clouds: Weather is expected to be fair (not that it will be partly cloudy).

• Clouds with Rain: Weather is expected to worsen (not that it will actually rain).

The WS-8157-IT-OAK is medium-large in size (about 12 x 8 inches) and has large digital displays for great readability, even from a distance. Hours and minutes are displayed in extra- bold digits a full 2 inches tall. Temperatures are displayed in bold digits almost 3/4 inch tall; day and date, in digits about 1/2 inch tall.  The La Crosse Technology WS-8157-IT-OAK can be hung on a wall as a medium size digital wall clock, or it can stand on its own as a desk clock, or a relatively large digit alarm clock (although it has no illumination for reading in the dark).
